Treat Yourself . . .
In light of all the birthday love this month, we were very happy to share the big anniversary with hair king Paul Edmonds. He too is celebrating his 25th anniversary in Knightsbridge, so we went along to check out the slick salon with two new VIP treatment rooms – and give our locks a much-needed boost with a Hydro Resin Treatment. Drenched from a flash autumn downpour, with a mop that hadn’t seen shampoo for 48 hours, there was some anxiety, and more than a little embarrassment, amongst the sleek bobs. Paul, however, immediately puts all concerns to rest, identifying fine hair (tick),
oily roots (guilty as charged) and dry ends (too much hairspray). The hydro resin is individually mixed for each client and applied on pre-washed towel-dried hair. After thoroughly basting every strand, you’re left under one of those space-age dryers to ensure that the proteins and plant nutrients are locked into the hair shaft. It’s a strange sensation – the keratin dries hair very dry and powdery, so you basically cop a mirror-full of what you’d look like with grey hair. From this (slightly frightening) aspect, it’s hard to believe silky soft locks will soon be flowing, but flow they do. Following a quick rinse with a pH balance conditioner and an expert blowdry, the shiny bobs are nowhere near as intimidating. Thankfully, the rain had abated too.
